A Fool's Errand

By JP

Well, shit, another long season is over. That means several things:

  1. The post season is upon us and the Cardinals are in it (and the Cubs are, of course, sitting at home)
  2. The Cardinals have made a late season push and somehow managed to overtake the Atlanta Braves in some regard*
  3. Another St. Louis Cardinals themed blog will begin and will not be around by the start of next season**

It seems like only yesterday that the last vestiges of snow were melting a way, pitchers and catchers were reporting, and Cubs fans were cocky with hollow optimism. Oh, and since Cubs fans will inevitably make some dumbass remark that has no bearing in reality and displays ignorance second only to my own, allow me to give you some ammunition against the the blanks they are firing (insert joke about a sterile man here).
  • The Cardinals won the season series 12-7
  • The Cards swept the final series of the season outscoring the Cubs 17-2
  • The Cardinals are, as previously mentioned, in the playoffs. The Cubs are not
There is still a long way to go before the end of the post season and the Cards will face either the Pittsburgh Pirates or the Cincinnati Reds in the NLDS starting Thursday, both of which are quality teams that pose a threat to the Cardinals chances of making it to the NLCS.

*In 2011 the Cards overtook the Braves to win the Wild Card. 2012 the Cards beat the Braves in the one game playoff. 2013 the Cards, in a late season push, overtook the Braves for best record in the NL.
**I have no idea whether this blog will continue to next season or not. And that's all.
